Dambusters Round - Step Out Challenge fundraiser!

Thank you so much for joining us to fundraise for our work! We are here to support you and will send your fundraising pack once you are booked on. Exciting!

Raise funds for Mind Over Mountains whilst taking on a challenge for yourself with a great group of people!

The Dambusters Challenge Walk is a challenging route in the Dark Peak area. It is based on locations associated with the training runs undertaken during World War Two, & is an epic Peak District hike covering almost 21 miles of moorland above the Reservoirs made famous by the Dambusters. There is a pub near the finish for those that fancy a celebratory refreshment at the end!

Cost: £50 - To recover your £50 entry fee, we ask as an individual you commit to raising at least £250 for the charity. This amount covers one full bursary place on one of our retreats, or 5 places on one of our day walks. If fundraising this amount feels a little overwhelming, we still warmly invite you to join us and spend the day advocating for our charity with the donation of your entry fee.

Teams are also welcome, for example a team of 4 raising £1,000 would fund an entire Mind Over Mountains event, giving up to 16 people some much needed respite with a day in the hills and access to our professional wellbeing team.

Event Details

The Dambusters Challenge Walk is a challenging route in the Dark Peak area. It is based on locations associated with the training runs undertaken during World War Two by Royal Air Force No. 617 Squadron (The Dambusters) around the Howden, Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs.

It is an epic Peak District walk covering almost 21 miles of moorland above the Reservoirs made famous by the Dambusters. Taking in some of the more well known Peak District summits such as Win Hill, Alport Castles, Back Tor and Lost Lad. The walk has a lovely mixture of scenery, taking us through woodland, over moorland, across streams and along the reservoirs.

There is a pub near the finish for those that fancy a celebratory refreshment at the end!

Frequently asked questions

Our fundraising challenge events do require higher levels of fitness than our normal walks and retreats, so we are always happy to chat about what's involved. Do just email us anytime!

We recommend our walkers wear walking boots with ankle support, walking shoes or off-road running trainers - the most important thing is having a more rugged sole/grip to prevent slips and potential injuries on rocky, muddy or uneven terrain. This doesn't have to be expensive or high-quality brands at all - Go Outdoors or Mountain Warehouse are generally very good value.

We do work with a fantastic organisation called KitSquad who can help with providing second-hand kit so please do feel free to contact them with what you need and hopefully they can help.

We love dogs! But unfortunately we only allow essential guide dogs, to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone.
